Committing to a Lifetime of Wellness

Losing weight and getting into better shape affects a lot more than just the size of your waistline – it’s an investment into a healthier, happier life. Your state of fitness really affects every part of your life, from your self-esteem to your relationships with others, to your career, to your financial well-being.

The more out of shape and unhealthy you are, the more that “dis-ease” will spread into other areas of your life. Maybe not at first, but over time it is inevitable.

That’s why making the decision to lose weight, change your life and improve your health is one of the most powerful decisions you will ever make.

Too many people focus on weight loss for vanity purposes. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good, of course. But that shouldn’t be the driving force behind your decision to lose weight because there are much more vital considerations hanging in the balance. What if vanity isn’t enough to motivate you for more than a week or two?

If you don’t have a very strong, compelling NEED to lose weight, you may not have the stamina needed to stick with the program and achieve your goal.

Start today by choosing much more powerful reasons why you want to lose weight and get into better shape.

Go ahead and add looking good to the list, but don’t stop there.

What about being there for your child on his/her wedding day?

What about living long enough to play with your grandchildren?

What about being healthy and strong enough to truly enjoy your life for the next 20, 40, 60 years?

What about having the energy to excel in your career and make a lot more money?

What about having the strength to make a real difference in the world?

All of these reasons, if you take time to focus on them for awhile, are incredibly motivating. They can make the difference between thinking, “Oh, this slice of cake doesn’t matter” and thinking, “That little slice of cake isn’t more important than my life goals”.

To be truly committed to a lifetime of wellness, you need to keep reminding yourself what is at stake. Either your quality of life is valuable and worth investing in for the long term, or it isn’t.

Only you can decide – and once you’ve decided, taking the actions to support your decision will be much easier.
