The Role Your Mind Plays in Weight Loss

When you first decide to lose weight and get in better shape, you can compare yourself to a person who decides to give up smoking – especially if you have been overweight for a number of years and have struggled with bad eating habits for just as long.

Like smoking, drinking, and drug abuse, overeating is a strong habit that will require a fair amount of determination to overcome. This is one of the main reasons why so many people hop from diet to diet, fad to fad – never quite sticking to one long enough to see results. They are seeking the “easy way,” not realizing that no plan is going to be easy because they have some deeply ingrained habits that need to be broken, and that is always a challenge no matter which weight loss plan they choose.

Does weight loss seem this difficult for you too? (more…)

Calorie Cycling – Can it Help with Weight Loss?

We’ve always been told that we have to eat a specific number of calories each day in order to maintain a certain body weight. However, research has shown that “changing things up” a bit with your caloric intake may help you to shed pounds more quickly and keep them off more easily.

Calorie cycling refers to the practice of taking in a varying amount of calories each day, never eating the same amount of calories two or more days in a row. The logic behind this is that eating too few calories for too long (like most weight loss programs advocate) will force your body into “starvation mode,” where it slows down fat burning. When fat burning slows down, so does your weight loss. The calorie cycling approach is different.

How Drinking Water Helps in Weight Loss

The search for new ways to lose weigh has lead people to go in many directions, but most of them fail to see the simplest aspects of their everyday life which can make a difference for their weight loss efforts. One of these ways is water, or rather drinking water for weight loss.

Matter of the fact is that most people do not drink enough water and are therefore not using their resources as efficient as they should to achieve their ultimate goals.
Water has a very large impact on a person’s metabolism. When it comes to weight loss, most people are only referring to the metabolism of fat, which is done by the liver. What most people don’t know is that the liver also has to take up the work of the kidneys if the kidneys are not working as efficiently as they should be. Given that the kidneys are a very water dependable organ, not drinking enough will slowly reduce their efficiency until the liver has to take part f their job as well. This in turn will reduce your fat metabolism as the liver can’t do two things at a 100% speed. In simple terms this means that you are setting yourself up to store fat than to burn it. (more…)

Are you Ready for Weight Loss Help?

In today world with the lifestyle that most of the people follow and their food habits there is a widespread problem of obesity. Most of the times is not necessary for someone to get on the scale in order to reveal the problem as you can see it from the body size in which case we are talking about more than a few pounds in extra weight. That leads many people to start looking for solutions to their problem that makes the weight loss industry one of the biggest ones as billion of dollars are spent every year for that purpose.

That has lead to a widespread mentality of the magic pill. Keep having the same lifestyle that you exercise very little if not at all, keep eating the same foods that are responsible for the big percentage of fat that your body has and take a pill or treatment that would solve all this problems instantly with no further action from you. In effect the responsibility is moving away from the person to the industry experts that are required to do miracles.

In some cases they do manage to help people reduce their weight to acceptable and healthy levels, that is true, but unfortunately those results cannot be sustainable without the help of the client. And I am talking here about personal responsibility, change your eating habits and your lifestyle in order to not let resurface the same problem that you have worked so hard to get rid off. After all it was your previous behavior that brought you there and if you don’t change it it would keep getting you the same result, that few extra pounds that hurts your health, appearance, and many times your self esteem.

I have to add here that there are many medical cases that lead people to extra weight and clearly such things need special medical treatment, but such cases are seldom and most of the overweight people got there through their own choices. So most of us have no excuses for being in the shape that we are.

But unfortunately taking responsibility for our own lives is the one thing that we never learn as we always seek an easy way out and we can’t defy temptation. We always try to avoid the right action no matter how much in a logical level we know that this is the best for us. Unfortunately we happen to be emotional creatures and it comes difficult to us to resist our emotions and follow the path of right action.

But whether you like it or not getting slim and desirable and sustain that outcome is mostly a matter of right action. Change the foods that you consume, eat less, and exercise is the three pillars for losing weight and sustain it at the new levels. Of course some times some pills and supplements can help you reduce your weight and body fat very fast and get it to the levels you want and may be a good choice for you if you consult your physician first. But no matter how fast or successfully you get to the point you want, unless you change your behavior you would pretty soon find yourself to the point from where you started.

So when we talk about getting your weight to the level you desire and sustain it there we are also talking about how ready you are to take responsibility for yourself and do the things that are required to help you get there. Unfortunately there is no magic weight loss pill that would do all the work for you. There are some that can help you get there faster and easier but stand alone no pill can reduce your weight without your assistance.

That is why I ask the question if you are ready for weight loss help. Because if you are not ready to do your part and play your role in this process it’s not going to happen on its own. Your assistance is needed to get results and if you cannot provided it, in the best case you may loose a few pounds in the beginning only to gain it back again in a very short period of time.

When I am talking about your assistance is required here I am not talking to go to extremes, although it might to a few people seem extreme some few changes depending on the background you are coming from, but I am talking for a few reasonable and necessary actions. No need to change even fast and drastically, some minor changes each time that all add up at the end and give you the desirable result. Sometimes slow and steady can work much better than a crash diet and it’s more healthy.

But in the end your help is needed in order to get help. So are you ready for weight loss help?
