By Beth Brock

Everyone wants to be healthy and save money. Putting the two goals together is a perfect plan, because they make each other possible. Here are some simple and easy ways to stay in shape without breaking the family budget.

1. Buy and Eat Healthier Foods
If your goal to lose weight involves the whole family, the grocery budget can provide big savings if you cut out the high cost of high-calorie foods like candy, ice cream and other fatty foods. Frozen vegetables also save you cooking time. Fresh fruit can be a great substitute for candies and sweets. Vegetables and fruits are healthy as well as great tasting. Tuna and other fishes are great, heart-healthy choices for anyone trying to eat right. Canned salmon and tuna are cheapest, and with excellent recipes, you can make a cheap meal out of canned fish, while cutting calories and protecting your heart health. Cutting out snacks will save money and cut calories for the entire family as well. When the urge for a snack finds you, choose fruits or veggies. Eating healthier three times a day usually means eating less and saving money. (more…)
