5 Keys To Weight Loss Success

Losing weight should not be a complicated thing. Yet so many “experts” make it difficult by proposing strict diets, crazy exercise routines or expensive shakes or formulas to use. So what do you do? I like to keep things as simple as possible. Here are my 5 keys to weight loss success. Follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way to losing weight and better health.

1. Make The Decision To Start.

When you say that you want to lose weight do you really mean it? Do your words match your actions? Have you really made the decision to do it? You have to make the decision that from now on you will start making the right choices. More importantly you will make the decision to start losing weight and not just talk about it. Commit to it then do it.

2. Start Eating Real Food.

This seems obvious but so many people want to lose weight by eating the same foods that got them overweight in the first place. Here’s a rule of thumb to follow: if it comes in a box then it was probably processed in some way or another. Try and eat foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. That means buying fresh fruits and vegetables, wild caught fish and wild or grass fed meats. Make your food from scratch so you always know what is in it.

3. Exercise Beyond Your Current Comfort Level.

If your idea of exercise is Wii Fit then you have to get new ideas! Start walking, jogging or running to get some stamina. A rowing machine, Stairmaster or jumping rope can also be used. Start using free weights – barbells and dumbbells – to build up your strength. Don’t get complacent with what you are doing. Find something challenging that makes you work more than you have been. Add new exercises in each week to keep it fresh.

4. Allow Yourself To Rest And Recover.

Don’t forget to rest! Working out 7 days a week for an hour a day seems like a good idea but your body will not get a chance to recover. You need time to rest and give your body a break. Three to four days a week for 30 minutes to an hour is plenty to get in shape. Recovery time is important in letting your body repair itself. And make sure you get enough sleep too. You should get at least 8 hours of quality sleep a day.

5. Repeat Steps 2, 3 and 4.

Don’t just start without a plan. Make sure you plan out what you are going to do and set some goals. Then follow your plan. Don’t get complacent or lazy. Remember to keep it simple. Eat real food, exercise regularly and get enough rest. Simple stuff. Don’t over complicate things and you’ll make your journey to lose weight more enjoyable.
